A proper sausage and fried egg sandwich in soft buttered bread with a good dollop of ketchup, costed to the penny. The ultimate cheap weekend breakfast.

The recipe

Instructions

    Fry the sausages in a little of the oil over a medium heat for 12-15 minutes, turning often, until browned all over and cooked through with no pink in the middle.

    Push the sausages to one side, add the rest of the oil and fry the eggs to your liking, basting the tops so the whites set firm.
  3. 3
    Spread the bread with butter.
  4. 4
    Slice the sausages in half lengthways and lay on two slices of bread with a fried egg on each.
  5. 5
    Add a squeeze of ketchup, top with the remaining bread and serve hot.
