Instructions

    Rub butter into flour with salt to breadcrumbs. Add water gradually to form a dough. Rest 30 minutes.

    Cube the beef, potato, swede and onion all to similar 5mm dice. Mix in a bowl with salt and pepper.
  3. 3
    Divide pastry into 4. Roll each into a 22cm circle.

    Pile filling on one half, fold pastry over, crimp the edge with your fingers — Cornish style is along the side.

    Brush with beaten egg. Bake at 220°C for 15 minutes, then 180°C for 35 minutes until deep golden.
