    Cube beef and kidney. Toss in seasoned flour. Brown in oil in batches.

    Add chopped onion, cook 8 minutes. Add mushrooms for 3 more.

    Pour in wine, stock, Worcestershire, thyme. Simmer covered 90 minutes until tender. Cool 30 minutes.

    Tip into a pie dish. Cut puff pastry to size, lay on top, crimp edges. Brush with beaten egg.

    Bake at 200°C for 30 minutes until pastry is deep golden. Rest 5 minutes before serving.
