1Peel, core and slice the apples. Toss with sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.

2Tip into a baking dish.

3Rub butter into flour with fingertips until breadcrumb texture. Stir in oats and brown sugar.

4Scatter the crumble over the apples — don't pat down, leave airy.

5Bake at 180°C for 35-40 minutes until golden on top and bubbling at edges. Serve with custard.
